Hey everyone!

Just wanted to say a quick hello and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

This time of year can be especially stressful on all of our finances. There are always more expensive gifts to buy and obligations to fulfill. But how can you beat it all and come out on top?

Here are a few quick pointers:

  1. Stick to a budget – There is no rocket science here. You have to set a budget for everyone that you need to buy gifts for and STICK TO IT! I’ve had past Christmases where we set a budget and say, “Oh, it’s ok. We will just spend an extra $5 on this person,” and so on and so forth. Next thing you know we have spent an extra $200 total! Stick with the budget religiously!
  2. Try something different – One great way to save money is by setting up a grab bag with your family. That way instead of having to spend $30 or $50 each on several different people you can spend $50 on one person, saving yourself quite a bit of money. You can discuss this with your family and circle of friends. What my wife and I do with her family is we do a grab bag for the adults and then we buy little gifts for the kids.
  3. Start Christmas shopping EARLY! – This is one to get you started for next year. My wife and I usually start shopping as early as July. Believe me it is A LOT easier on your bank account if you are buying a present here and a present there instead of waiting till December and buying EVERYTHING! Try that next year. See how it goes.

Well I hope this helps for Christmas time shopping!

After Christmas we are going to tackle a lot of debt since I know some of us are putting Christmas gifts on our credit cards.

Happy Saving and see you soon!
